A fresh look for July
Welcome to the July edition of the Hudson Valley Branch newsletter. We have a new look, important branch news, and a full weekend ahead.

You may have noticed that the branch has a new look. A huge thank-you to Carla for creating our logo and color palette. The website has been updated, promotional materials are on the way, and we’ll continue rolling out and expanding the new brand.
We are also now a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which allowed us to open the branch bank account at M&T Bank. We’re working on opening a Venmo account that the branch will use to pay reimbursements. All incoming membership dues and donations will be collected and tracked through Zeffy, a platform built specifically for nonprofits.
A note about contributions: If you have covered a branch expense or otherwise contributed financially, please keep your receipts and wait for reimbursement instructions. If you would prefer to make your contribution a tax-deductible donation rather than seek reimbursement, our treasurer can issue you a receipt.

Begonia Bootcamp
Bring cuttings to share and plants you want to propagate. Bex and Peggy will walk us through successful propagation. We’ll have some supplies, but please bring any special tools or substrates you’d like to use.
This is an especially good meeting for a friend who wants to learn the basics—please invite someone!
|
|
Plant swap update: We’re saving the swap until the end and trying a more standardized approach so it is fair for everyone. You’ll take home an amount equivalent to what you bring, so if you want new plants, please bring plants or cuttings to swap.

New York City Plant Market
Thank you to everyone who has helped make our table happen. We are not allowed to sell anything at the booth, so we’ll run ongoing Begonia leaf-propagation demonstrations instead. Visitors will receive a free Begonia leaf cutting and propagation materials while learning how to propagate it successfully.
At the end, we’ll invite visitors to make a completely optional donation. As a thank-you, donors will receive a gift appropriate to their donation level. Special thanks to Carla and Carlene for providing prints.
